The Friends of the Derby Public Library


The Friends of the Derby Public Library is a group of citizens who have a common passion for the Derby Public Library’s active expansion and participation in community life.  The Friends of the Library assist in helping promote library services and programs.  We are a non-profit organization and all membership dues and donations are tax deductible.

Friends memberships are available as either an annual membership or a lifetime membership, and as either an individual or a family membership. 

Membership rates:

Annual membership individual — $10
Annual membership family — $15

Lifetime membership individual — $100
Lifetime membership family — $150

Upcoming Events:

The Friends of the Library book sale is coming! We are still seeking donations of gently used books for the sale. Through July 15, the library has waived the 3-box or bag limit. Please remember that the library will not accept encyclopedias, text books, damaged items, VHS tapes and cassette tapes. 
Friends preview sale: 6:30-8 p.m. July 21
Public book sale: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 22
                             1-4 p.m. July 23





Board of Directors:

The board of directors of the Friends of the Library meets the first Monday of the month at 1:00 p.m. Members of the board of directors serve two-year terms and are elected at the annual meeting that generally takes place in October. Elections take place in even-numbered years. A committee will be formed to organize a slate of officers that will be voted on at the annual meeting on Oct. 29.

Volunteer Opportunities:

The Friends of the Library sponsors several activities at the library each year that provide opportunities for volunteering.
