| Judy Bennett - Director | |

Judy has been the Director of the Derby Library since 1994. She obtained a bachelor's degree in English from Friends University and her Masters in Library Science (MLS) from Emporia State University in 1990. Immediately prior to her current position she was the Head Librarian for the children's department at the Central Branch of the Wichita Public Library. Before completing the MLS degree, Judy worked more than 20 years in paraprofessional positions in public, school, and special libraries. As Director Judy reports to a 7-member Library Board appointed by the Mayor and City Council and is responsible for the daily operations, services, and programs of the Library, as well as, budget, policy, and long-range recommendations. Judy also selects all adult materials and oversees selection of the children's materials. She has served as past president of the Public Library Section of the Kansas Library Association and is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the South Central Kansas Library System. |
| Debbie Thomas - User Support Services Coordinator | |

A long time employee of the Derby Library, Debbie began her employment in 1989. She has a bachelor's degree in Education from Wichita State University and is also a 1996 K-PLACE (Kansas Professional Librarians Acquiring Continuing Education) graduate. Debbie has worked in several positions at the Derby Library. Currently, as User Support Services Coordinator, Debbie supervises 2.25 FTE in the cataloging, processing, maintenance of materials and interlibrary loan services in the Technical Services Department. She has overseen these operations since 1990. In 1998, developing electronic resources added other job tasks to Debbie’s position when she became the automation system administrator and coordinator of technologies. Debbie’s vision and expertise are keys in our state-of-the-art Library. In the Director’s absence, Debbie also assumes responsibilities for daily operations. |
| Carri Fry - Youth Services Coordinator | |

Carri has been employed with the Derby Library since 1997as the Youth Services Assistant until the summer of 2003 when she assumed the position of Youth Services Coordinator. As part of the youth services team, Carri is responsible for the planning, preparation and presentation of year-round library-related activities for birth thru high school. She has helped develop outstanding services and programs such as Wonderful Ones, Tales for Tots, pre-school storytimes, the after-school Explorers groups and teen activities. Carri came to the Library from Oklahoma after having spent nearly a decade as the director for Kinder Care and Child Time. Combined with this experience and with her extensive education in family relations and child development from Oklahoma State University and University of Central Oklahoma, Carri has a strong background in families, as well as, infant, preschool, and elementary age. In 2006, Carri graduated from K-PLACE (Kansas Professional Librarians Acquiring Continuing Education). |
| Kristy Norman - Public Support Services Coordinator | |

Kristy has been with the library since her high school years, starting in January 1996, when she worked as a library page (shelver of library materials). After graduation from DHS in 1997, she attended Butler County Community College, graduating with an Associates in Arts degree in July of 1999. In addition to her first position, before assuming her current position as Public Support Services Coordinator, Kristy was a library assistant in the circulation department. As PSS Coordinator, Kristy manages the public services department and supervises 5.48 FTE. Public services is responsible for assisting library users with informational and recreational needs, checking in & out of materials and troubleshooting public computer usage. In addition, Kristy is the resident genealogy specialist, works diligently in reader’s advisory (matching a reader with the “right” author) services, coordinates adult programming, selects music CDs, creates print and electronic newsletters and uses her creativity and innovative ideas to help the Library stay current with user trends. |
