Derby Arts Council
The goal of the Derby Arts Council is to encourage, promote and foster appreciation, participation and support for the Visual Arts. The Derby Arts Council will showcase local Artists and provide an exhibition gallery for Derby and the surrounding area to enhance the cultural arts experience.

The Gathering Space Gallery is open during the regular library hours. If art is in the Community Room, it may not be available for viewing at all times.
Current Exhibit: “Contrasts” featuring photographs by Cary Conover of Wichita, recently of New York City. The exhibit will run through mid-January, 2014.
- Mid-January, 2014 – Mid-March, 2014: “Check out This Joint!” an exhibit of mixed media by Gary Behrens of Derby, Kansas and his sister, Louise Behrens Fenn of Great Bend, Kansas.
- Mid-March – mid-May, 2014: Derby Elementary School Students; mixed media.
Receptions: The public is invited and encouraged to attend gallery receptions when scheduled. Receptions provide the public with an opportunity to meet the artist(s) and discuss their exhibit on a one-on-one basis.

The public is invited to the opening reception for "Contrasts" featuring Cary Conover. Conover, who will make brief remarks and answer questions, lived in New York City for ten years, serving as photojournalist for publications including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and The Village Voice. Wine and light hors d’oeurves will be served.
