Derby Arts Council
The goal of the Derby Arts Council is to encourage, promote and foster appreciation, participation and support for the Visual Arts. The Derby Arts Council will showcase local Artists and provide an exhibition gallery for Derby and the surrounding area to enhance the cultural arts experience.

The Gathering Space Gallery is open during the regular library hours. If art is in the Community Room, it may not be available for viewing at all times.
Current Exhibit: “Art in the Family” featuring Derby photographer, Gary Behrens and multi-media artworks by his sister, Louise Fenn. The exhibit will run through March 11, 2014. The public is invited to meet the artists at a Closing Reception scheduled for Thursday, March 6, from 6:00pm – 7:30pm.
- Mid-March – mid-May, 2014: Derby Elementary School Students; mixed media.
- Mid-May – Mid-August: A trio of contemporary artists from Wichita State University will display their works.
- Mid-August – Mid-October: TBA
- Mid-October – Mid-January: Members of the Kansas Art Guild will display their paintings.
Receptions: The public is invited and encouraged to attend gallery receptions when scheduled. Receptions provide the public with an opportunity to meet the artist(s) and discuss their exhibit on a one-on-one basis.

The public is invited to the closing reception for "Art in the Family" featuring Gary Behrens and Louise Fenn. Behrens, who moved to Derby in 2009, is known for his large framed photographs of landscapes and natural objects, both realistic and abstract. His sister, Louise Fenn, is an art teacher from Great Bend whose enthusiasm leads her to create art from found objects as well as beautiful paintings using many different media. Light refreshments will be served.
